The subsidy is real money — if you claim it right

MNsure is where the financial help lives, but the income estimates, plan tiers, and enrollment rules trip people up — and a mistake can cost you a subsidy you were entitled to or leave you with the wrong plan.

A certified assister costs you nothing and takes the guesswork out of it.

Minnesota’s marketplace — and the only door to subsidies

MNsure is the state’s official health insurance exchange. Plans on MNsure are the same ACA-compliant coverage you’d find off-exchange, but it’s the one place you can apply a premium tax credit or cost-sharing reduction if your income qualifies. For many households that subsidy is worth hundreds of dollars a month.

As certified assisters, we can sit on the same side of the table as you — estimating your income correctly, comparing plans, and submitting the application — rather than leaving you to a help line.

Why this year is worth a fresh look

The enhanced federal tax credits that lowered premiums since 2021 expired on December 31, 2025. The regular premium tax credit still exists for households between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level, but the amounts are smaller and people above that income line no longer qualify. If you set your plan up a few years ago, your real cost almost certainly changed — rechecking takes a few minutes with us.

MNsure, answered

MNsure is Minnesota’s official health insurance marketplace, created under the Affordable Care Act. It’s where individuals and families shop for coverage and the only place you can use a premium tax credit to lower your monthly cost.
Yes. Premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions can only be applied to plans purchased through MNsure. If you don’t qualify for help, you can also buy directly from a carrier off-exchange.
Nothing. Certified assisters and brokers are not paid by you — our compensation comes from the carriers and is already built into the premium, so you get the help at no added cost.
Open Enrollment for individual and family plans typically runs November 1 through January 15. A qualifying life event can open a Special Enrollment Period outside that window.
Possibly. The enhanced credits expired at the end of 2025, reverting to smaller pre-2021 amounts and reinstating the 400%-of-poverty income cap. We’ll calculate your current eligibility so you know your real number.
